In August, I attended the formal launch of the second mass media awareness campaign run by Jagran Pehel, the social initiative of India's biggest media house, Jagran Prakashan Ltd. Now, media houses are not experts in diabetes or health, but they are in communicating to larger masses. This project will focus on gestational diabetes in four states in Northern India and in doing so, Jagran Pehel will use its networks to influence the demands at community level while simultaneously building pressure at policy level. We are full of expectations and some have already been realised as you will see in the story on the project.
